MOMMA CANDY OF THE WEEK: Gardening, Juicing, and Real Housewiving

Working six days a week is for the birds. Good thing it's temporary.

And because I've been working six days a week the days are flying by. I usually try to have a post at the end of the week summarizing all of the good that happens every week. But prior to last week I really couldn't catch my breath enough to recognize anything other than working actually occurring in my life.

But this last week was different. There was a lot of Momma Candy to recognize this week and it was easier to recognize because it's my last six day week! Woohoo!

GARDENING

We were planning to put in some little gardens in our backyard and front patio area but it was always kind of a "Yeah, later" idea. But my mom called me up and said, "Do you want to do some gardening today?"

Instead of my normal response trying to get out of any type of outdoor, dirt filled activity, I heard myself saying, "Yeah, sure!" I didn't even know who was talking at that point because, surely, it was not this girl.

So we got some plants and some dirt and she brought over some of her plants to replant at my house and we gardened on Monday and Wednesday.

Back garden: Tomatoes and Jalapenos

Front patio area: Cactus succulents, aloe vera, and purple ivy.

My mom did most of this, I won't lie and she wants the credit. But we helped, mostly watched. We started small because I'm a great starter. But I'm not great at follow through. Pray for this garden.

My mom and Lola also decorated what we think is our lemon tree.

It's now an Easter egg tree!

JUICING

I started experimenting with juicing. I had a juice for three morning breakfasts this week and I felt great! I don't know how I would keep up with this because I literally made four separate trips to the store for more fruits and veggies. My normal trip schedule is 1-2 times a week.

I FOUND SPROUTS!

A while back all of the main grocery chains around here stopped selling sprouts, to my dismay. Something about Salmonella or E Coli or some other nonsense. Anyway, I was desperate for sprouts. One of my favorite things to eat growing up and even now is a cheese and sprout sandwich. Remember when I said I was raised by a hippie?

I suppose I could have gone to the store called "Sprouts" for some but it was out of my comfort zone and status quo so I just sat and complained about how my regular store doesn't have sprouts.

But, lo and behold, I was shopping at a different store really close by that is locally owned, shopping for juicing stuff again, of course. And what do I see??? Mother-effing sprouts!!! Be still my heart.

So this happened:

Sharp cheddar, avocado, tomato, mayo, and SPROUTS!

REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ORANGE COUNTY

It's back! Gretchen and Alexis were ousted and Lydia high tailed it out of there. But we have a new set of crazies that have decided to dip their toes into Vicki's vodka soaked pool of Woohoo! It looks like it's going to be a good season.

BOOKS TO MOVIES

Jen over at That's What She Read did an awesome recap of some books coming to the big screen this year. Two of which include Gone Girl and Orange is the New Black, Season 2. Made my week. Seriously, just blew my mind watching those two trailers. Can it be June and October?

Have a great weekend!
