Tuesday Topics: Five Songs That Bring Back Memories

Life. Love.Lauren

Five songs that bring back memories. Just five?!

At first, I honestly drew a blank. There are just so many songs that are important, meaningful, awesome, or that correlate with distinct times in my life. So many!

Let me tell you, music and lyrics have such a strong impact on me that I have two tattoos that are inspired by song. Swear.

So I decided to choose the first memorable songs that came to mind. This should be fun.

*All video labeled "Vevo" forces you to go to YouTube anyway so don't be scurred.

1. Pitbull - Culo

Do. Not. Laugh. Bite your tongue. Bite it!
This song makes me laugh because it was really popular when I first met my husband. At the time I was in college and did the night life thing and this song was everywhere. Manny actually worked at a radio station at the time and had it recorded on a birthday CD for me. Yes. He made me a mix tape. Only it was a CD because this is the 90's. Civil Rights! [Bridesmaids reference] But this was the shizzle at the time!

Sidenote: The remix of this song was on a Just Dance game that my little cousin has. I said, "Oh! I remember this song!" And she said, "Yeah, I know. They have a bunch of old music on here." Burn.

 2. Jason Mraz - I'm Yours

When my second son, Christian, was born, this song was popular. I remember him being about three months old and dancing around with him when it was on. It's our song.

 3. Kesha - Die Young

This song reminds me of the Color Run! At the end of Color Run, there is this huge stage with a DJ and this ready-made dance party. And they were playing Die Young in the pouring rain under dust clouds of color. It was THE MOST FUN EVER. Now every time I hear it on my iPod while exercising or running I always get a huge, cheesy grin on my face remembering that day. Idiot with the big smile on her face at the gym - that's me listing to Die Young.

 4. Big and Rich - Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy

Funny how memories tend to happen in the rain. My friend and I were supposed to go the Gretchen Wilson concert two years ago and Big and Rich were performing with her. But it rained. It rained and it rained. And it was an outdoor venue. We thought it might get cancelled but they went ahead with it. By the time we got there, there was probably maybe 100 people there. But we still had fun and screamed at the top of our lungs to Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy.

6. Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer

Okay. This is an easy one. I have SO MANY memories associated with this song. Because this song being played anywhere usually involves some sort of dancing by yours truly no matter where I am. My friend's wedding...take my hand, we'll make it, I swear...all hands in the middle. Vegas...Fremont Street...under the influence at 8PM...only one singing this song wondering why nobody else was having as much fun as me. I could go on.

What are your most memorable songs?
